Repeal the decision to require meal plans for all on-campus students
Starting the Academic year of 2013-2014, all students living on campus regardless of which dormitory will be required to have a meal plan. This takes away any and all advantages of living in Gunsaulus, Carmen, or SSV rooms with kitchens. Students are being required to spend extra money in order to live on campus, they were not consulted in this decision, and now need to make this stop.
Force IIT and Sodexo to repeal this decision that requires all students living on-campus to have a meal plan.

CTA bus service up and down 31st street
It would be really nice to have a bus on the whole stretch of 31st from halsted to the lake. Can we ask the local authorities to do something about this?
It will resolve safety issues near Dunbar Park area and help students living nearby.

Request IIT performs an audit of administration, practices, spending, and contracts to most responsibly use the Innovation Campaign money
Our university is asking for a lot of money for admirable goals, and we would all hate to see those millions of dollars mismanaged and used for things not intentioned. Aa successful audit including actions in areas that could use improvement could make our campus operations more efficient and also encourage others (including myself and others like alumni) to donate.

Use racquetball courts for extra weight training equipment
The Keating racquetball courts tend to be unused while other areas in the gym such as the weight training rooms are chronically overcrowded. Perhaps some of the racquetball courts could be converted to house extra weight training equipment to meet the high demand. One racquetball court could be retained for those who play this sport and for fitness classes.

make professors take a "how to effectively teach" course
IIT professors are smart in their fields. Some are great innovators, but many don't know how to effectively teach. There should be an annual requirement that all professors who are deemed to have "poor teaching ability" from the course evaluations, to take a class that teaches them how to teach better. Many professors lecture as if they would be teaching in another country, not knowing that students in America prefer to be taught in a more interactive way.

Add an indoor track to Keating Hall
An indoor track would provide more exercise options during the winter months when it is not necessarily practical to run or jog outside. It would also help alleviate the high demand on Keating's limited number of treadmills and exercise machines.

Add indoor turf to the Keating's indoor soccer area
While it is nice that indoor soccer has returned to Keating, the playing experience could be improved if there were an artificial turf playing surface rather than the existing floor. A turf area would also benefit other field sports such as lacrosse or cricket. This addition would allow a better practice environment during bad weather or winter months.

Repave the permit parking lots
The parking lots are horrible and we all pay $600 a year to drive through potholes and park there. The side streets around here are in better condition than our parking lots.

Resurface State Street from 29th to 35th!
Ok folks we all know that State Street is not exactly in the best of shape. Especially with the ongoing winter construction! Lets rally our aldermen to urge the City of Chicago to resurface State Street!

We need more native American professors in Electrical (ece). Dept.
As an international studend one of my goals of coming here was to take a lot of courses taught by American professors. Also professors whose native language is not english have a problem in communicating and transfering their knowledge. They are pretty knowledgable but i am not learning anything in class. I have to spend a lot of time reading textbooks, other material and also watch lectures posted online by professors from other universities. I pay the same fees here....

establish a laundry fee that is incorporated into the housing fees that provides unlimited laundry during the term.
it would make it much easier for all, and especially the international students who might not have a bank account or credit card to use right away to load their tech-cash. this is an issue since ACAPS no longer accepts cash for loading money to tech-cash.

tell Sodexo in the Commons to serve foods that give students the ability to control their health.
There are many different dishes they serve in the Commons which have a good ingredient or two, mixed in and cooked with foods which aren't part of any healthy diet. Chicken is fine, but shredded bits drowned in BBQ sauce help no one, and neither does shredded bits of chicken in gravy with potatoes under a pie crust. We need better fuel for our brains and our bodies, which the Commons should provide.

Get RID of Sodexo!
Go with a different food vendor that doesn't have strict guidelines about food for clubs (and the art gallery in Galvin), that is NOT the nation's #1 prison food distributor (They really are, look it up), rotates stock more often, and has good quality, protein-rich meals. However, keep the employees!
